David Holler is a singer-songwriter, recording artist, producer, and entertainer based in Zürich, Switzerland.
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, David grew up surrounded by songwriting. His father, Dick Holler, wrote songs recorded and performed by artists including Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, Cher, The Bellamy Brothers, Bob Dylan, and many others. That musical legacy became part of David’s own path, eventually leading him to Europe, where from 1995 to 2008 he performed full-time in clubs and piano bars throughout Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Scotland, Denmark, and Holland before making Zürich his home.
After marrying and settling in Zürich, David shifted his focus from full-time nightclub performing toward songwriting and studio work, while continuing to perform. In 2001, he earned his Cambridge CELTA teaching qualification and began teaching English, giving him the stability to devote more time to developing his songwriting career.
Following the advice of producer Phil Gernhard, David booked a vocal session at Zürich’s renowned Powerplay Studios with producer and composer Urs Wiesendanger, who was signed to Sony. The meeting proved to be a turning point. Within two years, David had 15 songs appear across three No. 1 Swiss albums released by Universal Music. This led to further songwriting collaborations with major Swiss artists including DJ BoBo, Stefanie Heinzmann, Anna Rossinelli, Luca Hänni, and many others.
In 2023, David co-wrote “A Mountain on the Moon” with Lobo (Kent LaVoie), whose legendary classic “I’d Love You to Want Me” was No. 1 on the German pop charts for 13 weeks.
In 2025, David released “Kara,” a radio-friendly flower-pop song with nostalgic vibes that is now featured on the nationally broadcast Radio Swiss Pop. David also directed and edited the colorful music video, filmed around iconic locations in Zürich.
His self-penned song “Odeon,” a tribute to Zürich’s century-old literary café, was the lead example in a 20 Minuten feature on Swiss streets and places that inspired songs, and has remained on the Radio Swiss Jazz playlist for nearly 15 years.
As a music publisher, David’s company, Stonehenge Music, has secured song placements in major television productions and motion pictures, notably Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. David also served as vocal coach for Roger Federer, as well as a writer and backing vocalist, on the widely popular Sunrise “We” commercial.
Beyond his work as a recording artist and performer, David is a vocal and songwriting coach at the Zürich music school Instrumentor.ch. He is also a certified English trainer and teaches at the Volkshochschule Zürich, near the University of Zürich.
David works from his own studio in Zürich-Seebach, appropriately called the “Dave Cave,” where he writes, records, develops his own projects, and mentors students and professional artists. A new batch of original songs is due for release later in 2026.
